Five reasons why not to buy iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus in 2020? Before we start, let me make a couple of things known before we get going. The price of iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S plus in the United States is hovering anywhere from $ 100 for used, refurbished to around 300 USD on the high end.

I am also aware that in certain places around the world that certain people are not able to buy iPhones at these cheap-cheap prices. Actually, the prices are inflated in certain countries and that makes it even worse of a deal. So you’re going to be buying a phone that’s outdated for more money than a phone that’s pretty up to date and has much better specifications, especially, on the competing Android side.

So, here are five reasons why I specifically just cannot recommend iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S plus in 2020.

Battery Life

Five Reasons Why Not To Buy iPhone 6S or iPhone 6S Plus in 2020?
iPhone 6s/6s Plus : Battery

Why battery life is first on my list? well, it’s just not great.

iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S plus have a pretty small battery capacity sizes. I mean, the battery size of the iPhone 6S is under 1800 mAH. iPhone 6S Plus has a much larger battery and it’s not too bad with iPhone 6S plus but still, it’s nowhere near as good as it was on an earlier edition of iOS.

Trying to get through the day on the iPhone 6S is just a challenge. With the iPhone 6S Plus, you can get through the day if you’re a light user but if you go heavy on your phone like most people are in 2020, the battery life on these is just not great.

These phones are going to need a battery pack, maybe, a battery charging case, something like that. These are not excellent options anymore. So, for that reason alone, I wouldn’t pick the iPhone 6S as a great option right now considering the competition. There are phones in the same price range, they may not be iOS phones but they have much larger capacities and much longer-lasting battery life.

iPhone 6s/6s Plus : camera

The Single cameras on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s plus are just not at par with other cameras in the same segment phones. Don’t get me wrong these are still 12 megapixels, 4K eyesight cameras but these cameras are just not great anymore.

They are good cameras, they do work. I’m not trying to say these don’t work but it’s hard to recommend these cameras because of the massive improvements across not only iPhones but phones in this price range have triple cameras, quad cameras, a lot more fun to use than the cameras on iPhones 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

The camera you get in iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus is just not fantastic anymore in comparison to the newer phones. What do I mean by this? No smart HDR on the camera for iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus, also no 4K at 60 fps, in addition, the details at night time are not great on iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus.

The front-facing selfie camera for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, while it isn’t a bad camera, it has been far-far upgraded on many other phones and this can only do 1080 video on the front. So for me, this is not a great deal for the camera.

Not only does it look really old, the design on the back. These phones are just not an excellent pick for an actual camera performance when you compare it to the same money you’re going to pay to get certain other devices.

iPhone 6s/6s Plus : Design

The design on the iPhone 6s Plus and the iPhone 6s is just old. It looks old, especially, on the back. The front you would be fooled into thinking this is an iPhone 8 Plus. So, the front is still ok. I am not a fan of big chunky bezels anymore but it’s still an OK design just because Apple still has it around in their lineup. However, the backside of these phones just looks extremely dated and the actual feel of the phone feels like an entry-level Android Phone.

A lot of entry-level Android phones have aluminum bodies with a big display and a lot of those actually have thinner bezels than iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. So, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus feel like an entry-level phone here in 2020.

Moreover, Apple is going to be releasing more than likely an iPhone 9 and update iPhone SE 2, that’s going to retain a similar design to this which is going to be a hit just because of the price and people are probably going to care more about that A13 processor under the hood then they are going to care about the design. And, it’s also kind of has a much better camera, so you can live with the design because the internal guts are updated. But here for an iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, you not only have an older design but you have older hardware under the hood as well.

The processor on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus is the A9. The A9 chip has been phased out officially. They don’t really sell phones with the A9 chip anymore. A9 chip performs well. I think the A9 chip is not bad at all in 2020 actually. It still performs quite nicely. The A9 chip in iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus is the problem, it’s the RAM here on these phones. It’s just not enough. 2 gigabytes of RAM slows things down a little bit.

This phone definitely doesn’t feel as snappy as it did when it was on the original iOS version that it launched with. So, I just got to say that overall that 2 gigabytes of RAM here is a definite reason I wouldn’t recommend buying the iPhone 6s plus as we do so much more on our phone is 2020, you’re constantly switching between apps. I just think some things are going to close more often than you would like on the day-to-day when you’re just switching between apps.

The efficiency of the overall system is still good but it’s starting to show its age a bit here for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. I am not saying iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are not fast, What I’m saying is that by comparison to the newer phones that are in the market at the same price range, they’re better than iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

I wouldn’t recommend iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to buy right now is a combination of few elements.

Number 1 – Going forward the software support on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus is uncertain. We don’t know if we’re going to get the next version of iOS down the line. iOS 14 is likely coming here but I’m talking about well into the future and if you’re buying these phones you might want to keep it for a few years. However, they might not be updated. iOS will still run efficiently because iOS is efficient regardless if you get the update but still you’re probably going to be behind immediately after this becomes outdated.

Number 2 – Next up, these do not support 5g. Slower Bluetooth at 4.2, which is an older Bluetooth technology. So, if you’re looking for a fast connection to your AirPods and stuff like that, You’re probably going to find iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus a bit slower.

Number 3 – With their ever-expanding usage of smartphones, having less RAM, binding that with the other things I mentioned, This is just hard to recommend as an overall system to put in your pocket here in 2020. Moreover, We also don’t have great speaker performance. Yes, there is a headphone jack but the speaker’s performance is not great, actually, it’s pretty bad.

I honestly can’t recommend you guys this phone right now. It’s just not a great pick and the only way you would think it’s a great pick if you’re totally putting the blinders on and ignoring everything that’s on the market. I mean, Samsung’s Galaxy A51 is not much more expensive than iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus and it’s a lot more updated.
